Defining “Gospel” – It is Finished!

image

At the heart of the Gospel is Jesus’ declaration from the Cross,

“It is finished!”

The enormity of this statement is breath taking. Jesus’ entire physical life on this earth, His teachings, the way He lived – cared – loved – healed – challenged. The way He literally laid down His life, and even the resurrection that was to come, is summed up in this declaration:

 “Tetelestai!” – it is finished!

What is finished?

Absolutely everything required to satisfy the demands of the Law – perfection.

Everything required for us to be seen by God the Father as holy saints.

Everything for us to be declared God’s “royal priesthood”.

Everything required for us to pass from death to life.

All of it — everything — Finished!

If this is all you ever understand about the Gospel, you will understand enough – Jesus is all you need.

Our one assignment is to believe this is true. “Jesus told them, ‘This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.’” (John 6:29 NLT)

Be assured, this truth will shatter your religion, and it will save your life – both this life and the one to come. It will transform you from the inside out.

It. Is. Finished!
