Giving thanks is a great daily habit, but I also love this day of the year to remind us of how blessed we already are in Christ.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing…”

-Ephesians‬ ‭1:3‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Throughout the Bible we see the power of blessing. Speaking blessing over each other is a great way to lift people up. At the same time, I know there are times when we don’t feel blessed, or maybe worse, people speak ill towards us. In these times, we must remember that God has already blessed us with every spiritual blessing.

Notice this blessing has nothing to do with our performance. We are blessed because we are “in Christ.” It is because of His perfect and complete performance that we are blessed. This is the gift of grace.

So, whether the holidays are great times for you, or if they are a struggle, please remember this – you are blessed in Christ! When we realize this is true, giving thanks will be a natural overflow of our lives.
