January 7 – Everyday Gospel – A Good Night

Tonight’s gonna be a good night!

I can hear you singing Black Eyed Peas in your head.

How can I be so certain that tonight will be good? Because tonight I will gather with my friends (the church). One couple will open their home and invite us all in like we’re family. There will be a feast of great food and wine. Someone will have something on their heart that they want to explore with us. We’ll delve into a book we’re reading together (Hugh Halter’s Brimstone: The Art and Act of Holy Nonjudgement). Most of all, I know we will talk about the Gospel. The Gospel means Good News, and Jesus IS the Gospel. So, yes, we’ll talk about Jesus.

Yeah, tonight’s gonna be a good night!

Today’s Good News is this type of gathering is available to all of us. It doesn’t need to be complicated. Just make the decision that you want to have incredible nights, too. Call a few friends, put it on the calendar, and enjoy!

Not sure what to talk about? Well, part of the reason I’ve decided to post these “Everyday Gospel” thoughts is to stir hearts and start conversations. Share these posts with your friends and let them be your discussion starters.

Or find a good book to read together (if you want some ideas for books reply and I’ll post some). Keep it simple. Don’t make it another “to do” drudgery. Make it a time that everyone enjoys. It’s not hard, but someone needs to get the ball rolling – I think that someone is you! And that’s Good News.
