March 23 ~ Everyday Gospel ~ Passion 4

We have come to Wednesday of Passion week. The Bible is silent about what occurs today. The calm before the storm.

One thing I did not mention that happened yesterday was Judas had agreed to betray Jesus. What the religious leaders have sought – a way to capture and kill Jesus – begins to come together as Judas agrees to take them to Jesus so they can arrest Him.

It truly is the calm before the storm.

The truth is, in our own lives, Satan is bidding and plotting against us, too. We may or may not be aware of it, but it’s true. If you are a believer, I can guarantee you Satan would love nothing more than to take you down.

Today’s Good News is just as Jesus knew exactly what was going on behind the scenes on Passion week Wednesday, He knows exactly what is going on behind the scenes in your life right now. Just as Jesus overcame the schemes of the devil against Him, He provides you with the same ability to overcome everything and anything  Satan throws your way.

“For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” ~ 1 John‬ ‭5:4‬

“Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” ~ 1 John‬ ‭4:4‬

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”” ~ John‬ ‭16:33‬

“Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” ~ 1 John‬ ‭5:5‬

How do we overcome? We believe. We believe in the One who has overcome. It is that simple.

Are you struggling? Do you feel like the world is overcoming you instead of you overcoming the world? If you are a believer, I simply remind you of the truth of Scriptures – like the ones I just reprinted above. Read them again and again. Read them as often as needed to remember what is true about you.

Not a believer? I know some have completely closed themselves off to things they deem “religious” – my prayer for you is that you would reconsider. Not reconsider religious things, but reconsider that maybe Jesus hates dead religion as much as you do. If you’ve read any of my writings you already can see Jesus is about relationships, not religion. If you really value truth, then ask a simple question founded in truth, “Jesus, if you are real, show me. Allow me to feel your presence in my life.”

I trust Him that much. I know He will reveal the truth about Himself to all who really seek to know the truth – and that’s Good News!
