Dr. Seuss would be 112 today.
I came across another Seuss book today – Wacky Wednesday. I’m sure I’ve seen it before, but I did not remember it. So, today is Dr. Suess’ Wacky Wednesday Birthday.
I feel like I should be more creative and make all of this rhyme – even if I have to make up new words for it to fit. Alas, I don’t feel like thinking that hard this morning.
Wacky Wednesday is really a seek-and-find book – trying find all of the things in the picture that are messed up.
You know I cannot help but see this in a spiritual sense. In our world it’s pretty easy to find all of the “problems.” Since sin has been doing its role of destroying for a long time, the results become easier and easier to see.
Today’s Good News is there’s One who was more than aware that things in the world were “wacky”, and He knew there was but one solution. Someone needed to come and “get it right.” Someone needed to do what we could not do because we are born into sin. This is why I believe Mary was indeed a virgin when the Holy Spirit started within her the life of Jesus. Otherwise, Jesus, too, would have been born into sin, as sin is passed through the seed of the father.
Jesus did come, born of a virgin, enduring all temptation without faltering, and laying His life down for us as the final perfect sacrifice – setting us right with God.
Jesus was also on the ultimate seek-and-find mission. Here’s what He said, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” (Luke 19:10) In a world that’s worse than “wacky,” there’s One who has come to rescue us – and that’s really Good News!
